Brown Sugar Red Date Steamed Buns, Sweet but not Cloying, Blood Nourishing and Energy Boosting
Chit-chat: Life has many inevitable growth processes. No one grows up as easily as playing Chinese Checkers. One day, looking back, every stumble was necessary. However, this realization that 'everything is the best arrangement' belongs only to those who ultimately find a sense of belonging within their soul. Brown sugar and red dates have the effects of nourishing blood, boosting energy, and warming the stomach. This pastry is fragrant, soft yet chewy, and irresistibly delightful. It’s more nutritious than plain white steamed buns. As soon as it's out of the steamer, kids scramble to grab some, and the aroma of red dates fills the entire house.

Steps
Prepare the ingredients in advance.
Step 1: First, put the brown sugar into a small pot, add 200g of water, boil over high heat until the brown sugar is completely dissolved. Once lukewarm, add yeast and stir with chopsticks.
Step 2: Pour the brown sugar water into the flour and knead into a smooth dough.
Step 3: Take the kneaded dough, place it in a container, cover with plastic wrap, and let it ferment in a warm environment at 26°C.
Step 4: Let it ferment until it doubles in size. Insert a flour-dipped finger into the center. If the indentation remains and does not collapse, the fermentation is done.
Step 5: Once fermented, take out the dough and place it on a silicone mat. Knead it several times.
Step 6: Expel some air bubbles, then add chopped red dates and knead evenly. If cut open the interior is solid without air holes, it’s well-kneaded. Approximately 8 minutes of kneading.
Step 7: Roll out the dough into a thin sheet with a rolling pin, then roll it up. Roll the dough from the center outward into a long strip.
Step 8: Use a scraper to trim the ends, then cut into bun-sized pieces.
Step 9: Place the bun dough onto a steamer lined with parchment paper. Let it proof for about 30 minutes until the pieces expand slightly, then steam.
Step 10: Steam in a cold steamer over high heat. Once steaming, switch to medium heat for 13 minutes. Turn off the heat and wait 3 minutes before taking them out. Delicious brown sugar buns are ready!
You can make extra and freeze them. Heat them up in the morning for a nutritious and excellent breakfast!
