Christmas Spray Flower Cookies

A baking enthusiast planning to make a gingerbread house, stumbled across spray flower cookie molds while searching for the necessary materials on Taobao. The cookies made using the molds in the introduction looked so adorable! Immediately purchased the spray flower sieving mold and spray flower mini brushes (similar to makeup brushes like eyeshadow applicators). The recipe is very simple. The cookie-making process is straightforward, though attention needs to be paid during the spraying process.

Take a piece of parchment paper the size of your baking tray, then take the chilled dough out and place it on the parchment paper. Wrap a rolling pin with plastic wrap to avoid sticking while rolling the dough. Preheat the oven to 150°C. If the chilling time is less than 1 hour, cut the dough into slices 1cm thick each time (3-4 slices at a time). Keep the remaining dough in the fridge to prevent it from softening and affecting the smoothness of the cookie's surface. Roll the slices to 2-3mm thickness, attach the spray flower stencil tightly to the rolled dough, dip a small soft brush in a small amount of food coloring powder, and gently brush it onto the open areas of the stencil. Remember: Always apply food coloring powder in small amounts multiple times for an even pattern color.

Once the food coloring powder is applied, gently lift the spray flower stencil. Use a 6.1cm diameter round cookie cutter (I bought it with the spray flower stencils as a set) to cut the cookies around the sprayed pattern. Remove the excess dough from the sides (the leftover dough can be used to create more three-dimensional cookie shapes!). Place the prepared cookies in the preheated 150°C oven, on the middle rack, and bake for 15-20 minutes. I baked mine for 15 minutes. Adjust the baking time based on your oven's temperature.

Cooking Tips

1. When applying spray patterns, always use small amounts of food coloring powder multiple times to ensure even color. 2. Try not to move the cookies after cutting to prevent deformation. I baked 4 at a time, which coincided perfectly with the time it took for me to prepare a new pattern for the next batch. Perhaps I'm just a bit slow, haha!
