Cinnamon Rolls

The aroma of cinnamon rolls is rich and appealing! Many people enjoy them, and my family loves them as well after trying twice. The warmth of cinnamon is perfect for winter. Today, here's a recipe without eggs and dairy. Actually, making vegan bread is not difficult, and cinnamon rolls don't require intensive kneading. You can easily make them without a bread machine. Additionally, here are methods for two shapes of cinnamon rolls. The following recipe yields about six cinnamon rolls.

Ingredients

High-gluten flour250g
SugarAppropriate amount (spread on the dough)
Salt1/4 tsp
Cinnamon powder(spread on the dough)
Yeast1/2 tbsp
Warm water130g
Oil(spread on the dough)

Steps

1

Kneading: Dissolve the yeast in warm water at about 30°C, then mix it with flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon powder, and oil to form a smooth dough. Continue kneading for 5–10 minutes until the dough has a thick membrane. Ferment: Cover with cling film and place in a warm area to ferment for about 1 hour. Fermentation time depends greatly on temperature. Once the dough has doubled in size, knead again to release air, and let it rest for another 15 minutes.

Roll the fermented dough into a rectangular sheet. Brush it with a suitable amount of oil, avoiding the edges. Then evenly sprinkle sugar and cinnamon powder according to taste. Roll the sheet into a log starting from one end.

Cut the roll into six equal trapezoid-like sections, similar to making flower rolls. Use a chopstick to press down firmly on each piece to create a shape.

Place the shaped cinnamon rolls onto a baking tray, ensuring enough space between them for rising to double their size. Place a bowl of hot water in the bottom of the oven, along with the tray of cinnamon rolls. Close the oven door and allow a final fermentation for about 30 minutes until doubled in size. Sprinkle crushed peanuts on top of the rolls before baking. Remove the bowl of water from the oven, preheat to 180°C for 5 minutes. Bake on the middle rack with upper and lower heat for 10–12 minutes until golden brown.

For a simpler shape, just cut the roll into equal sizes as shown in the picture, place them cut-side up onto the tray for final fermentation. All other steps remain the same.

Cooking Tips

1. 1 tsp = 5ml, 1 tbsp = 15ml 2. Adding apple jam as a filling might be a great idea for cinnamon rolls. Will try that next time!
