Classic Italian Meat Sauce Pasta

Being a fan of Italian pasta, I learned how to make pasta when working at Pizza Hut with my roommate during my sophomore year. Today, I’m sharing the simplest way to make classic Italian meat sauce pasta ^ω^

Ingredients

Tomato1
Onion1/4

Olive oilModerate

Cooked meatModerate

Steps

1

Add a little salt to the water, then put the pasta in and cook for 10 to 15 minutes. The thicker the pasta, the longer the cooking time.

Filter the cooked pasta through cool water and drain. Mix in a bit of olive oil and set it aside for later.

I made enough for two servings, so I used a quarter of an onion. Since I didn’t have beef or pork at home, I substituted with cooked meat. Chop both ingredients into small cubes. Quick tip: When chopping onions, don’t worry too much about the shape because I cried for a long time while chopping them ::>_<::

Add one tomato or two small tomatoes, chopped into small pieces, to enhance the freshness of the tomato soup.

Pour a little olive oil into a pan and stir fry the onion until fragrant. Then add meat cubes and continue to stir fry.

Add diced tomatoes, then tomato sauce, about half a packet for two servings. Pour in half a small bowl of water since the tomato sauce is very thick. Finally, add a little black pepper powder.

Cooking Tips

1. Regarding the amount of pasta: I used No.2 pasta. You know the now-trending 'heart' gesture 😄 The circle formed by overlapping your thumb and the first joint of your index finger represents the amount for two servings. Adjust the amount based on individual appetite. 2. Regarding the amount of tomato sauce: I used Hunts original tomato sauce (250g pack). Half a packet is enough for two servings. After adding the sauce, make sure to add some water since the sauce is thick and heavy in flavor. Adjust water based on the thickness and taste. 3. Regarding pasta cooking time: Generally, the packaging indicates the suggested cooking time. For No.2 thickness pasta, I cooked it for 12 minutes. Check the softness and doneness by tasting—don't overcook! 4. Regarding black pepper vs. white pepper: Black pepper is spicy; white pepper is aromatic. Typically, black pepper powder is used for Western dishes, while white pepper is used for soups.
