French Traditional Dessert Pear Almond Clafoutis
In winter, the whole world seems to slow down, so why not enjoy a French dessert show with your friends in the kitchen and spend a warm French afternoon tea together? Clafoutis, a traditional dessert from the Limousin region of central France, is classically made with black cherries, but other fruits such as blackberries, apples, peaches, plums, or pears can also be used. It is made by baking the fruits in an egg-milk batter, resulting in a texture similar to pudding. If you like, you can add some whipped cream while eating, and a touch of sweetness and warmth will naturally delight you.
Ingredients
Steps
Sift the flour, add sugar, and slowly pour in milk, stirring evenly.
Melt the butter using a double boiler and set the liquid aside.
Add vanilla extract, pour in the melted butter, and stir evenly to prepare the batter.
Wash, peel, and slice the pears.
Grease the inside of a 6-inch cake mold (preferably a loose-bottom mold for easier unmolding) with butter. Pour part of the batter into the mold first, then layer in pear slices, and finally pour in the remaining batter and sprinkle with almond slices.
Preheat the oven to 180°C, cover the top of the mold with a layer of foil to prevent over-browning, bake for 40 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 10-15 minutes for color. Let cool slightly before unmolding, and it's done.
