How to Open a Grapefruit
You can use this method to open grapefruits, pomelos, pomelo-like fruits, and some oranges. Compared to mandarins and oranges, the white pith of pomelo-like fruits is more bitter. However, as long as the pith is thoroughly peeled off, they become very delicious. Once peeled clean, the family’s pomelo will disappear in no time!
Ingredients
Steps
Take out a grapefruit you want to eat.
Use a fruit knife to cut off the top cap.
Run the knife blade from top to bottom along the fruit skin to make cuts.
Make cuts to the depth shown in the image, approximately six cuts.
Now you can peel open a grapefruit just like you would peel an orange.
This method also works for thick-skinned citrus fruits like Hu Pomelo.
Split it open and remove all the white membrane.
A single grapefruit has a lot of pith to peel off.
Only leave the red flesh to avoid the bitterness. At this point, you can juice it or eat it directly—your choice.
