New Year Wealth | Braised Abalone with Pork Belly
A sumptuous dish with a rich and glossy sauce is essential on the New Year's Eve dinner table. Today, let's make my favorite dish, braised abalone with pork belly~ Tender and silky abalone paired with slow-cooked pork belly that is soft, flavorful, but not greasy, all wrapped in a fragrant sauce. It's the perfect choice for the main dish to impress your guests during the New Year's Eve dinner, and every drop of the sauce will be mixed with rice and eaten clean. For today's dish, I used Arawana 1:1:1 Golden Ratio Blended Edible Oil, which is scientifically blended from different vegetable oils. It helps balance fatty acids and is highly nutritious, making it suitable for both the elderly and children. It also brings health and nutrition to your New Year's Eve dinner. The pork belly is simmered to a tender texture without being greasy, while the abalone is cooked to perfection, offering a bouncy and tender texture. This is a dish that everyone in the family will love. This truly auspicious New Year's dish is one you should try too! Wishing you a prosperous New Year, filled with fortune and wealth, symbolized by our dish—Embrace wealth in the New Year with 'abundant abalone'!
Ingredients
Steps
Prepare all the ingredients. Fresh abalone and streaky pork belly are must-haves.
Clean the abalone after removing the shells. You can use a small brush for cleaning.
Score the cleaned abalone with crosshatch cuts. This makes the flavor seep in better and also improves presentation.
Clean the pork belly and cut it into Mahjong-sized pieces. Blanch in boiling water, then set aside. This enhances the flavor.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add the rock sugar and stir over medium heat until it melts and turns golden.
During the New Year, when families gather, you can buy a larger 5L bottle of Arawana 1:1:1 Golden Ratio Blended Oil. It's suitable for both the elderly and children, meeting the cooking needs of the entire family.
Add the drained pork belly to the pan and stir-fry on low heat until evenly coated with the caramelized sugar.
Add green onions, ginger, star anise, and stir-fry until fragrant. Then, add dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, and cooking wine, and mix well.
Add hot water until the pork is submerged. Bring to a boil, season with salt, and simmer on low heat for 45 minutes to 1 hour. For a softer texture, extend the cooking time according to your preference.
Add the abalone in the last 10 minutes of cooking. Then, turn up the heat to reduce the sauce. If there's still a lot of sauce, remove the abalone first and continue reducing the sauce.
Garnish with chives before serving. Enjoy!
