Prepare the ingredients.
Pour the broth ingredients into a saucepan, bring to a boil over medium heat, and simmer for 5-10 minutes on low heat.
Strain and cool for later use.
Peel the yam.
Grate into a mash.
Remove the core of the cabbage.
Cut into small pieces.
Cut the bacon into segments.
Add flour, sugar, and salt into a bowl.
Mix in the broth, mashed yam, and eggs until smooth.
Then mix in the cabbage thoroughly.
Heat oil in a frying pan, add the bacon, and fry until slightly crispy.
Pour in an appropriate amount of batter, sprinkle with dried shrimp, and fry until golden brown (about 2 minutes).
Flip and fry for another 2-3 minutes until both sides are golden brown.
Mix the sauce ingredients in a bowl.
Brush the sauce onto the Okonomiyaki, then drizzle with mayonnaise.
Sprinkle bonito flakes on top as garnish.
