Quick Homemade Pan-Fried Dumplings (Truly Done in 10 Minutes)

This method was also learned from someone else, but I can't remember where I saw it. I'm sharing it here for everyone's reference.

Ingredients

DumplingsAround 10
Starch water1 tablespoon
Toasted white sesame seedsA small handful
Chopped green onionsA little
Corn oilAs needed
WaterA small amount

Steps

1

Heat a small amount of oil in a non-stick pan until it's about 60% hot, place the dumplings neatly in the pan. If using fresh dumplings, place them directly; if using frozen dumplings, use chopsticks to arrange them to avoid burns. Fry the dumplings for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Once arranged, add enough water to cover about 5mm high. Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes.

Use a bowl to mix a small amount of water; be sure not to add too much water here. Add one tablespoon of starch and stir well. When the water in the pan is almost dry, pour this mixture into the pan's base and immediately cover it with a lid. Continue cooking over medium heat. When the mixture is nearly dry, sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Cover with a lid for another 15 seconds, then remove from the pan. Done!

Cooking Tips

1. Be sure not to let the water completely boil away; this will cause the dumplings to burn. 2. The cooking time differs between fresh dumplings and frozen ones; adjust accordingly. I used frozen dumplings which took 8 minutes.
