Stirred Granola - Less Oil & Less Sugar
Let me confess first. I went too heavy on the ingredients. The oats entirely became a supporting role..-_-#. Well... Earlier, an elder sister asked me how I made oats. I said I stir-fried them instead of baking in the oven. She asked me to share the recipe, and I agreed to do so after I finished eating. I tried with brown sugar before, but I felt that brown sugar in yogurt tasted quite weird. I've also tried instant oats, but I personally prefer the chewy texture of raw oats.
Ingredients
Steps
Mix oats, nuts, salt, oil, honey or maple syrup, and cinnamon powder (I used cashews, walnuts, almonds) in a pan. I used raw oats and added 40-50g of water! (This is my personal habit; I always wash nuts before stir-frying them, so the water amount may vary.) If you like instant oats, you can use them too! No need to add water! Then heat on low heat and stir. I used raw nuts, so I fried them together with oats. If you're using roasted nuts with raw oats, add them later! If using instant oats, you can add them together.
Add dried fruits as per your preference! I added black currants, raisins, golden raisins, cranberry, pumpkin seeds, and chopped dried red dates. I also recommend adding some chopped dried kiwi. However, this time I didn’t because my mom had eaten all of what was at home as a snack, and I found out too late.
Keep stir-frying. If you're using raw oats, taste them later to see if they're cooked. If they're not cooked and look like they're burning, you can add a bit more water (around 20 minutes total). For instant oats, simply stir-fry and bring out the aroma! Instant oats are much easier.
Once done, add the dried fruits and stir evenly.
After turning off the heat, add cornflakes and stir evenly. I bought Henry’s sugar-free cornflakes and had a box that no one ate. Surprisingly, it tasted amazing in oats!
Transfer to a container and spread them out. Once cooled, store in jars with airtight lids!
