I still love this brand from Jay Chou’s endorsement—it’s not greasy and the quality is great. Let it soften a bit at room temperature.
Peel off the plastic film, then cut it into inverted triangles like this.
Cut the ham sausages into short pieces.
Place the ham pieces on the wide end and roll toward the pointed tip.
Roll them into a croissant shape.
Roll all of them. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. You can brush them with egg wash or leave them plain. In the previous recipes I always used egg wash; today I’m doing a batch without it.
Bake in the middle rack at 190–200°C with top and bottom heat for 20 minutes. Adjust the time and temperature slightly according to your own oven brand and performance.
Most of the oil in the paratha has been baked out!
Paratha feels much less greasy baked this way! You can see the excess oil rendered out onto the parchment paper.
Plate and serve! The baked paratha is beautifully layered, and the excess oil has even plumped up the ham sausages, making them fragrant and chubby—each one is like a little fatty roll.
Here’s a close-up shot.
This batch came out especially crisp and flaky—biting into it is super satisfying! I can’t resist anymore, time to dig in!
